Wilden Sets Record, Wins Trans Am Race at Mosport
BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (June 2, 2010) – Kenny Wilden grabbed the lead early in the race and then pulled away to win the second round of the 2010 SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am Series at Mosport International Raceway.
The competitors in the Series all race on Goodyear Eagle tires and the tires were an important part of the story at Mosport. Wilden broke the existing Trans Am track record in qualifying by more than two seconds. Wilden averaged 116.911 mph on his top qualifying lap.
Wilden drove a Chevrolet Corvette, as did the remainder of the top five finishers. R.J. Lopez finished second and Blaise Csida took third, followed by Tony Ave and Simon Gregg.
Ave led the first six laps before Wilden took over.
Wilden averaged 110.570 mph over the 37-lap, 90.983-mile chase. His margin of victory was 19.324 seconds.
