Spicer, Rettich Split SCCA Pro Spec Racer Ford Wins At Mosport

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (May 24, 2011) – Richard Spicer and Scott Rettich won the two Sports Car Club of America Pro Spec Racer Ford races at Mosport, taking different paths to victory on the same racing surface.

Spicer followed leader Rettich until the 15th lap of the 20-lap first race before Spicer finally grabbed the lead and then held on to win. In the second race, Rettich led every lap on his way to taking the trophy.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Pro Spec Racer Ford Series, as well as for the SRF racers at the SCCA club level. The two Spec Racer Ford programs feature the same purpose-built, single seat cars. The rules are tightly monitored by the SCCA to make the driver, not the car, the most important factor in competition. Goodyear’s bias-ply D2525 tires have been an excellent match for both series, providing a consistent, economic platform for the competitors to race on.

Rettich finished second in the weekend’s first race, having started on pole. Brian Schofield, the 2010 SCCA National Championship Runoffs champion, was third. Jeffrey Lehner took fourth and Herb Sweeney came home fifth.

In the weekend’s second race, Spicer took second after starting third. Amazingly, despite the close competition that is a hallmark of SRF racing, Schofield, Lehner and Sweeney repeated their first-race finishes.
