Short track, paved
LOUDON, NH (Aug. 15, 2011) – Brian Hoar won the final segment and took home top honors in the ACT All-Star Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The event was split into two segments and the finishes of each driver were added together. The driver with the lowest point total, Hoar, won. Hoar finished second in the opening segment and won the second segment for just three points. Austin Theriault, who was second in the scoring, had seven points.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for the ACT and its sister series, the Serie ACT Castrol. Goodyear also supplies tires for weekly late model programs where the ACT rulebook guides the competition. The tires used for the ACT races on the mile oval at NHMS were specifically developed for the ACT cars on the big speedway.
The Challenge featured a field of 43 starters.
Hoar took the lead on the 37th lap of the 50-lap event and led the rest of the way. Not bad for a driver who started 35th.
Theriault was second, followed by Patrick Laperle (16 points), Brad Leighton (16) and Joey Laquerre (17).
Passing was the order of the day. Eddie MacDonald, who won the first segment, started the second segment in 36th. He raced back to the lead and seemed ready to win the event when a mechanical problem forced him out.
